World number one Iga Swiatek will miss the WTA-500 tournament in Berlin (Germany). The press service of the tournament reported this on social networks.
“Unfortunately, due to physical and mental fatigue after nine intense weeks, I withdrew from the tournament in Berlin to rest and recover,” Swiatek said.
On Saturday, June 8, the Polish tennis player won Roland Garros 2024, beating Italian Yasmin Paolini in the final with a score of 6:2, 6:1. This title was Swiatek’s third in a row and fourth overall on the Parisian courts. In total, the Polish player has 21 trophies at the WTA level, including five victories at Grand Slam tournaments.
The tournament in Berlin (Germany) will take place from June 17 to 23. All tennis players from the top 10 world rankings signed up for it. Swiatek did not play in the tournament last year, so she will not lose any points in the rankings.
